OKLAHOMA CITY – There’s only one title that now eludes Tyson Durfey.
The Missouri-born cowboy put together a magnificent run from March 31-April 3 to win tie-down roping during the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo at Jim Norick Arena, the historic site that hosted the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo for 13 years.
“This event has always been important to me,” said Durfey of Colbert, Wash. “Growing up in Missouri, Billy Huber was a legend in that area. Even my brother and my dad went to the circuit finals, so growing up, everybody that I looked up to was going to the circuit finals.”
Huber is from Iowa, Missouri’s neighbor to the north. Both are part of the Great Lakes Circuit, one of 12 regions that are part of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s circuit system. Huber has earned 20 qualifications to the DNCFR by winning either the Great Lakes Circuit’s year-end or finals titles, so you can see how a young Durfey found an idol.

True Cowboy Tyson Durfey has done it again!!! After making the Wrangler National Finals in 2007, Tyson has shown that he is here to stay with his now fourth consecutive qualification. Durfey has placed in the top 10 for a number of years and in the top 5 in 2009 when he placed 3rd in the world Tie-Down Roping competition. He achieved a personal best by placing in seven of the ten rounds furing his 3rd qualification in 2009.
This year he comes into the NFR in 7th place in the world standing, not far behind the contestants ahead of him on the earnings board. Trevor Brazile leads the pack with over $142,000 in earnings, but that won't take the rest out of the race. Tuf Cooper is hoping to win his first world title this year and he sits approximately $35,000 behind the legendary Brazile. A few good rounds could change the game significantly. Tuf isn't alone though with his brothers just behind him in the hunt with Clint Cooper in 8th and Clif Cooper in 14th and premiering in his first NFR competition. The Cooper family is well represented at the finals and be sure to watch as they all put on a good showing.

What is the true definition of self-confidence? Where does it come from? How do we create a solid self-confidence in this ever changing world that is constantly battles with you and who you are? Each day is a battle to the finish of who will come out on top, what makes those successful athletes tick everyday when it comes to their self-confidence and or self-worth?
The dictionary puts it plainly by stating that self-confidence is confidence in oneself and in one’s powers and abilities, Merrian-Webster. It’s also commonly defined as the sureness of feeling that you are equal to the task at hand. This sureness is characterized by absolute belief in ability. Nepoleon Hill, Author of The Laws of Success explains that “You can do it if you believe you can!” The thought that maybe if you believed that the unimaginable can happen it would.
Letting go of all the insecurities and just believing in something positive would attract that very supreme event, moment in time, and feeling that would be remembered for a life time.
